Flucloxacillin: isoxazolyl penicillin. Bactericidal against Gram positive bacteria, Gram negative cocci, spirochaetes and actinomycetes.it inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by inhibiting the final cross-linking stage of peptidoglycan production by inactivating transpeptidases, penicillin-binding proteins on the inner surface of the bacterial cell membrane.
Amoxicillin: beta-lactam antibiotic. It inhibits cell wall mucopeptide biosynthesis. It is less active than penicillin against Streptococcus pneumococcus. Penicillin-resistant strains are also resistant to amoxicillin, but higher doses may be effective. It is more effective against gram-negative organisms such as N. meningitides and H. influenza, than penicillin.
