Selective phosphodiesterase-4 (PDE4) inhibitor. Antispasmodic.
PDE4 is responsible for degradation of cAMP. Inhibition of PDE4 leads to increased levels of cAMP and consequently smooth muscle relaxation. Drotaverine has no anticholinergic effects.
