Bisoprolol

Tablet:

• 2.5mg
• 5mg
• 10mg

• Should be taken in the morning.

Beta 1 selective beta-adrenoceptor antagonist with low b2-receptor affinity.

It has no intrinsic sympathomimetic activity nor membrane-stabilizing properties. It reduces blood pressure, and by blockade of the cardiac B1-receptors, it reduces cardiac action and hence myocardial oxygen demand.

• Dyspnea
• Nausea
• Pharyngitis
• Sinusitis
• Vomiting
• Cold extremities
• Sexual impotence

• Hyperthyroidism (may mask symptoms)
• Hypoglycemia
• Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
• Asthmatic patients
• Bronchitis
• Phaeochromocytoma
• Patients with renal decompensation.

CAUTION:

• If withdrawn prior to surgery, at least 48 hours should be allowed between last dose and anaesthesia.
• Therapy discontinuation should be gradual and patients advised to limit their physical activity during this period.
• Discontinue immediately in patients with ischemic heart disease.
• Do not administer calcium channel blockers and antiarrythmic agents IV during bisoprolol therapy.
