- Ocular infection:
- Adults and >2 years: Initially 2 gtt in eye(s) every hour until improvement for severe infections, then 1-2 gtt every 4 hours
Eye drops: 0.3% w/v
- Remove contact lenses before applying the eye drops and wait until 10 min before inserting contact lenses.
- Discard 4 weeks after opening bottle
- Eye drops should be used before eye ointments
- If using more than 1 eye drop, they should be administered at least 5 minutes apart
Aminoglycoside
It appears to inhibit protein synthesis in susceptible bacteria by irreversibly binding to 30S and 50S ribosomal subunits
